NOTES ON TAXONOMY
Name of taxon was by Kupka, but the original description was by Schmiedeknecht. (Schmiedeknecht, 1933)
Originally described by Schmiedeknecht (1933) with 22 included species but without designating a type species, therefore not available (ICZN Article 13 for genus described after 1930). (Schwarz and Shaw, 2000). (Schwarz and Shaw, 2000)
Schwarz (1995) was the first to use Thaumatogelis as a valid name after Townes designation of type species. (Schwarz, 1995)
