The name is made up of 'Chile' and 'hoplites'. It was spelt as 'Chilhoplites' in the main description (p.92 & 93), but as 'Chiloplites' in all other parts of the paper (Summary p.5, Biogeography section p.12, key to genera p.39, new combination for type species p.93,95 and in legend to figures p.224).
