none The effects of dimethoate, pirimicarb, imidacloprid, thiacloprid, spinosad and azadirachtin (applied at commercial dosages recommended to control pests) onto mummified Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris), on emergence and survival of adult and immature Aphidius ervi Haliday, an important parasitoid of A. pisum and other aphids, were evaluated in the laboratory. Neither treatment affected total emergence, but azadirachtin had the least proportion of emerging adults. Three insecticide groups, based on their effects in survival, were distinguished. The most selective insecticides were thiacloprid, azadirachtin imidacloprid and pirimicarb, followed by spinosad, which showed mild toxicity on A. ervi. Dimethoate severely affected survival of parasitoids. Azadirachtin entered the aphid mummy and caused some mortality of immature parasitoids.
