The female of Ascogaster dentiventris Telenga is redescribed, the male is described for the first time. In spite of the two teeth on the clypeus this species is classified as a member of the semenovi-group, because of the short antennae of the female (21-jointed) and the carapace which is punctured at the end. The semenovi-group is compared with the caucasica-group. Ascogaster dentiventris Telenga is easy to identify by the two teeth on the clypeus, the lack of notauli and the apical tooth on the carapace.
