comment:
none. Poland. As a result of studies carried out in 9 stands a considerable noxiousness of E. dodecella was found. The mean percentage of damage in pine buds fluctuated during subsequent years from 30.7% (in 1979) to 60.9% (in 1974) and in forest stands - from 34.5% (Brynica) to 49.7% (Zyglinek). Parasitic hymenopterids, and particularly Pristomerus orbitalis Holmgr., Macrocentrus buoliana Eady et Clark, and Apanteles lemarie Nix. appeared to be the most important enemies of E. dodecella . Examination of parasitic infestation in E. dodecella larvae with the dissection technique indicated on average 11.4% for 3 years, while with the use of culture technique during 4 years of studies on average 19.3% infestation was ascertained. These data would indicate that the role of parasites in the reduction of E. dodecella population is rather insignificant.
