none In choice experiments in the laboratory, R. lymantriae Watanabe preferred Lymantria dispar (L.) larvae over Orgyia leucostigma J. E. Smith, and development from oviposition to mummification was significantly longer in O. leucostigma than in L. dispar. There were no differences in sex ratio of R. lymantriae reared in the different hosts; hence, O. leucostigma is a suitable alternate host for R. lymantriae. Despite being reared on L. dispar in the laboratory for over 50 generations, R. lymantriae parasitized L. dispar in the field; future releases to establish R. lymantriae should be made where L. dispar and O. leucostigma occur together.
