Evidences are given that proximal shift of wing venation characterises not only the braconid group and species from steppes and deserts (Tobias, 1959, 1966, 1977, etc.) but another Hymenoptera living in arid landscapes too: Ichneumonidae, Pompilidae, Sphecidae, etc. Conversely in those groups and species that live in humid habitats, under forest canopy, a trend to distal extension of wing vein elements is revealed. In evolutionary aspect the proximal shift is explained by action of wind in open landscapes (not only desert or steppe, but tundra too), and distal displacement is a consequence of the absence of wind in the forest.
