comment:
The occurrence of the larval and pupal parasitoids of the cabbage lepidopterous pests Plutella xylostella (L.), Mamestra brassicae (L.), Autographa gamma (L.), Pieris brassicae (L.) and Pieris rapae (L.) was investigated in the area of Cologne-Bonn (Germany) in 1989. Among the 18 different species of parasitoids, there were five species belonging to the Ichneumonidae, ten species to the Braconidae, one species to the Pteromalidae and two species to the Diptera Tachinidae. The larval parasitoid of P. xylostella, Diadegma semiclausum (Hellen), was the most dominant species covering 97% of the entire spectrum of specimen. Microplitis mediator (Haliday) was the most important larval parasitoid of M. brassicae and A. gamma, having parasitized 97.3% and 64.3%, respectively. The larvae of P. brassicae and P. rapae were parasitized by Apanteles glomeratus (L.) at the extent of 100% and 80%, respectively. The rates of parasitism mostly depended on the location. Contrary to the importance of the larval parasitoids, the pupal parasitoids and the hyperparasitoids of all pests were less important.
