comment:
Laboratory trials were undertaken to examine the effect of diets (honey, pure honey, sucrose, tap water and unfed) on longevity of Apanteles (= Dolichogenidea) metesae Nixon, a solitary and larval endoparasitoid of oil palm bagworm, Metisa plana Walker (Lepidoptera: Psychidae). Results showed that A. metesae females fed 20% sucrose lived significantly longer than females fed on 80% and 90% honey, pure honey, 50% sucrose, tap water and unfed females. However, there was no significant difference in longevity of A. metesae fed on 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% and 70% honey solutions. Result showed that sucrose is a more suitable diet for A. metesae females as compared to honey. BR Nutrition. Life cycle and development. Development. Apanteles metesae (Braconidae).
