A three-year survey for the natural enemies of Lymantria obfuscata Walk., a potential pest of deciduous fruit and forest trees in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, revealed a complex of 47 species of parasitoids and predators effective at egg-larval, pupal and adult stages of the pest. Field and laboratory studies on the biology and ecology of most promising natural enemies, viz., Anastatus kashmirensis Mathur, Exorista rossica Mensil Apanteles indiensis Marsh., and Calosoma himalayanum Gestro an egg, late larval/pupal and early larval parasitoids and larval/pupal predator, respectively showed wide distribution and numerical superiority in every habitat and conceivable host niches. The biotic potential and possibilities of their integration as biocontrol components in the pest management programme for L. obfuscata has been highlighted.
