comment:
noneaafc0 More than 13000 caterpillars and pupae of P. maculipennis were gathered at various localities in Moldavia in the periods 1967-1972 and 1979-1982 for the purposes of obtaining parasites for laboratory observation. Approximately 8400 parasites hatched from this material, including 18 ichneumonid species (Itoplectis, Nepiera, Diadegma, Hyposoter, Dicaelotus, Diadromus, Thyraeella, and Phaeogenes spp.), 3 braconid species (Apanteles spp.), other primary parasites (Dibrachys, Tetrastichus, and Geniocerus spp.), and secondary parasites (Mesochorus, Lysibia, Pleurotropis, and Eupteromalus spp.). The combined parasite species activity yielded a parasitization of more than 70%, in some samples of even more than 90%.
