    Following some data on the scope of plantation forestry in Colombia (mainly in the Andes region, where Pinus patula is the main plantation species), a list is given of 33 species of important insect pests in plantations, affecting Pinus oocarpa, P. kesiya, Alnus jorullensis [A. acuminatal, Eucalyptus grandis, E. saligna, E. globulus, E. terelicornis, Tabebuia rosea, Tectona grandis, Bombacopsis quinatum [B. quinala] and Cordia alliodora. The current state of forest entomology in Colombia is reviewed, with special reference to pest control and the encouragement of natural parasites (especially Tachinidac and Ichneumonidac) of insect pests. none
