none Larval-pupal apolysis of Anastrepha suspensa is inhibited when superparasitized (up to 7 parasites/host) by the solitary endoparasite Biosteres longicaudatus . Ecdysone 20-monooxygenase activity was similar in superparasitized hosts and controls and could not explain the significantly (P < 0.05) high ecdysteroid titres, especially in 36-48-h-old hosts. Superparasitized A. suspensa were unable to initiate larval-pupal apolysis due presumably, to: (a) their inability to secrete moulting gel and (b) high ecdysteroid titres that may also have inhibited the synthesis of a new cuticle.
