comment:
Cell immunity reactions of the wax moth Galleria mellonella during the development of the entomophage Habrobracon hebetor have been investigated. It was detected that the parasitoids actively suppress prophenoloxidase complex in haemocytes. At the same time the quantity of the haemocytes generating free radical oxygen species was increased. The encapsulation rate of infected larvae during parasitoid development was the same as the control. It is considered that the parasitic invasion depresses the semikinone generation but do not block other immune reactions. BR Biochemistry. Proteins. Parasites diseases and disorders. Parasites.
