comment:
none Outbreaks of the small limacodid moth, Penthocrates spp. were reported in five localities in the Philippines. The larva is the destructive stage of the pest inflicting damages on the leaflets of coconuts. A general burnt appearance often results. Pest population was observed to favor by hot or dry season, and tend to decline at the onset of rainy season. Five biological control agents were found to affect the pest under field condition. These include Apanteles sp., Aroplectrus sp., Nesolynx sp., an unidentified Ichneumonid, and an entomogenous fungus. Interim remedial measures used against the pest include light trapping, mechanical destruction of larvae, and chemical control by insecticide spraying.
