NUCLEIC-ACIDS; MOLECULAR-GENETICS; Viral associate DNA integration into host genome; ASSOCIATIONS-; Campoletis sonorensis virus; Viral DNA integration into host genome The polydnavirus of Campoletis sonorensis is present in the oviducts of all adult females and appears to be required for the ichneumonid to parasitize hosts successfully. Tle viral DNA B-specific sequences in cloned wasp DNA were shown to be colinear with viral genomic segment DNA B from nucleocapsids and were covalently linked to nonviral wasp sequences. This virus appears to be the 1st documented integrated nonretroviral DNA virus of insects and is probably vertically transmitted as a provirus. none
