none The life-cycle of Argyresthia illuminatella Zell. living on Abies alba Miller has been studied in Tuscany. The geographical distribution of this insect in Italy is given. The species has one generation a year. The adults emerge from the end of April to the end of May. They lay single eggs on the buds of lateral twigs. The larvae feed in the buds and then mine a part of the stem below in which they overwinter and complete the metamorphosis. Generally the lateral twigs of various age firs are attacked. An ichneumonid wasp of the genus Lissonota is active in the natural control of the phytophagous.
