During the period 2001-2003, six species from the family Braconidae (Hymenoptera) were established as new parasitoids of xylophagous forest insect pests in Bulgaria: Dendrosoter middendorffi (Ratz.), Coeloides abdominalis (Zett.), Coeloides sordidator (Ratz.), Iphiaulax impostor (Scop.), Helcon tardator Nees and Eubasus pallipes Nees. They were reared from Tomicus minor (Hart.) (Coleoptera: Scolytidae), Pissodes piniphilus (Hrbst.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), Melanophila picta (Pall.) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) and Phymatodes testaceus (L.) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae). The parasitoids reduced the host number by 6.5-52.6%. Three species (C. abdominalis, C. sordidator and E. pallipes) are new for Bulgarian fauna. Melanophila picta (Buprestidae): [Host; New record].
