  • comment:

Bracon phylacteophagus Austin sp. n. and Bracon confusus Austin sp. n. are described from southern Australia. Both are parasitoids of mature larvae and pupae of the eucalypt leafmining sawfly genus Phylacteophaga Froggatt and have been released in the north island of New Zealand in an attmept to control P. froggatti Riek. The latter was discovered there in March 1985 and is damaging ornamental and commerical eucalypt plantings. A key to separate the two species of Bracon F. is presented, along with notes on their relationships and biology. Additional comments are provided on other parasitoids of Phylacteophaga spp.
